When Joe Swanberg started making his movie Silver Bullets, he wasn’t sure where it was going and he wasn’t sure where his career was going. “At the time I really was not excited about filmmaking. I wasn’t excited about the films that I was seeing other people make and I certainly wasn’t excited about the stuff that I was making,” Swanberg said during a discussion of his career following a screening of Silver Bullets on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus Friday evening (Feb. 24).
CONSENSUS: “Powwow Highway has fun characters, a strong story (although with a few plot holes) and an easy-going road movie tone. The overall quality, however, holds it back from being more acceptable for a wider audience.”
CONSENSUS: “An interesting and layered adaptation of a book, this Swedish thriller should be consumed post-haste. It is dark and doesn’t pull punches. There is a ton to like here, especially Noomi Rapace in the lead role.”
