Three Drug Movies That Should Be in Your Queue

Drugs and movies go together like movie theaters and heart attack-inducing popcorn. There are many to choose from, but here are three drug movies available on Netflix Instant Watch. One includes Anna Faris, another Jeff Bridges and the third has Robin Williams and Robert De Niro.

Smiley Face

Talk about living the high life: Hilarity ensues as a young actress named Jane (Anna Faris) attempts to get around town after accidentally consuming a batch of marijuana-laced treats belonging to her wacko roommate. Stoned out of her mind, she must pay her gas bill, accompany a chum to the dentist and make it to an audition before the day is done. Marion Ross and Danny Trejo co-star in this comedy of errors from director Gregg Araki.

The Big Lebowski

Slacker Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) gets involved in a gargantuan mess of events when he’s mistaken for another man named Lebowski, whose wife has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom. All the while, Dude’s friend, Walter (John Goodman), stirs the pot. Brothers Joel Coen and Ethan Coen write and direct this cult comedy classic that also stars Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore and John Turturro.

Awakenings

Based on the true story, medical researcher Dr. Malcolm Sayer (Robin Williams) attempts to treat a group of patients who’ve laid comatose in a Bronx hospital for 30 years. Sayer prescribes an experimental drug, and it works. Robert De Niro co-stars as a patient unconscious since adolescence who must come to terms with life as an adult.
